Protest Installation and Performance
Circuits and Currents, Athens, Greece
Performance and installation; which altered the artwork in order to protest curators being manipulative on artists and curator interventions on artworks.
The installation occurred after the curator damaged the prepared artwork for her own will; while the artist was not informed, nor in the hall. The artwork got changed and replaced by the artist and made ready for the show multiple times, as the work was being changed and damaged by the curator again and again. After spite and manipulations of the curator, more than half of the participator artists destroyed their artworks during the opening show of the exhibition as ‘protest’ performance. The pictures are documentations showing changes made on the work after the first damage (one piece to two piece), altering the work for its purpose and replacement and fixation (spray paint by the artist for final placement) and further changes (and damage) by curator.
The timeline (29, 37, 42) is the total time period recorded daily during the residency as the time spent under the curator’s pressure.
